PEPTIDES for Veterans Act
Summary:
• Directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to review existing federal regulations and guidance on peptides, establish working definitions of "peptide" and "peptide-based therapy," and report findings to Congress within 180 days
• Requires the Secretary to conduct an 18-month study on the safety, efficacy, and potential benefits of peptide-based therapies for veterans in VA care, covering areas such as recovery, chronic pain, mental health, and service-connected conditions
• If the study supports it, the Secretary must launch a voluntary pilot program making peptide-based therapies available to veterans, to be completed within 5 years, with a final report to Congress on effectiveness and implementation guidance
