Advancing American Innovation Act
Summary:
• Amends section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 to refocus U.S. International Trade Commission resources on protecting genuine domestic industries by tightening the definition of qualifying domestic industry, including requiring that licensing activities lead to the actual adoption and development of articles incorporating the patent or other intellectual property
• Requires public interest considerations—including effects on public health, the U.S. economy, and consumers—to be explicitly weighed before the Commission can issue exclusion orders, cease and desist orders, or temporary relief
