FLIGHT DECK Act
Summary:
• Directs the FAA Administrator to establish a voluntary flight deck training program within 1 year, allowing certified air traffic controllers to observe flight deck operations on participating commercial, cargo, powered lift, or general aviation aircraft
• Participating air traffic controllers are considered on-duty during flight hours but are not reimbursed for expenses such as per diem or mileage, and must have management approval subject to operational and staffing requirements
• The FAA Administrator must submit a report to Congress within 1 year of the program's establishment covering participation numbers, flight types observed, barriers to participation, and recommendations to increase participation
