EASE Act
Summary:
• The EASE Act authorizes the President to temporarily suspend the federal gas tax during a national emergency that is causing or threatening substantial disruption to fuel supply, availability, or price
• The suspension period lasts 60 days, extendable to 120 days with written Congressional notification, with no more than one suspension period per single national emergency
• To protect the Highway Trust Fund and Leaking Underground Storage Tank Trust Fund, the Secretary must transfer equivalent amounts from the general fund to offset any revenue lost during the suspension
