SUN Act
Summary:
• The "Solar Use Network Act" (SUN Act) allows electric vehicle charging infrastructure, renewable energy generation facilities, electrical transmission and distribution infrastructure, and broadband infrastructure and conduit to be accommodated within the right-of-way on Federal-aid highways
• These facility types are to be treated as covered facilities under existing federal regulations (part 645 of title 23, Code of Federal Regulations) for purposes of highway right-of-way accommodation
• States are authorized to approve such accommodations within Federal-aid highway rights-of-way on behalf of the Secretary of Transportation
