Dennis John Benigno Traumatic Brain Injury Program Reauthorization Act of 2026
Summary:
• Reauthorizes the Traumatic Brain Injury program, extending funding authorizations from 2020–2024 to 2027–2031 for surveillance, state grants, and protection and advocacy services
• Expands TBI surveillance and data collection to include populations at higher risk, causes and risk factors, occupational factors, and short- and long-term outcomes, and requires the CDC to make aggregated TBI information publicly available
• Requires the Secretary of Health and Human Services to report to Congress on higher-risk populations and to conduct a study on long-term or chronic symptoms and conditions related to traumatic brain injury
